Versa-Matic E1-1″ High Pressure AODD Pump

The Versa-Matic E1 1″ (25 mm) High Pressure air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pump is a metallic 2:1 pump designed for applications where higher discharge pressure is required while maintaining useful fluid-transfer capacity.

With discharge pressure capability up to 232 psi (16.2 bar) and an adjustable flow rate up to 33 gpm (125 lpm), the E1 High Pressure pump is suitable for viscous fluids, high-specific-gravity liquids, filter press duties, high-head systems and long-distance fluid transfer.

Aluminum or stainless steel wetted constructions are available, together with multiple diaphragm and check-valve material options. Its rugged bolted design, self-priming capability and restart-on-demand operation make it suitable for demanding industrial processes.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Nearly 2:1 high-pressure operating principle
  • Discharge pressure capability up to 232 psi (16.2 bar)
  • Adjustable flow rate up to 33 gpm (125 lpm)
  • Rugged bolted construction for reliable fluid containment
  • Self-priming and end-ported design
  • Safely deadheads against a closed discharge without pump damage
  • Restarts on demand when the discharge condition changes
  • Fully serviceable pneumatic air valve
  • Aluminum or stainless steel wetted construction available
  • NPT and BSPT threaded porting options
  • Multiple diaphragm and check-valve materials available
  • ATEX-approved configurations for applicable hazardous-area installations

How the 2:1 High Pressure Design Works

The E1 High Pressure pump incorporates two additional air chambers and an additional air-side driver diaphragm. This increases the effective surface area on which compressed air acts, magnifying the force transmitted through the fluid diaphragms.

The result is discharge pressure approaching twice the supplied air pressure, allowing the pump to overcome higher downstream pressure than a conventional 1:1 AODD pump.

Materials & Configuration Options

Wetted Construction Aluminum or Stainless Steel
Center Section Aluminum
Valve Seats Stainless Steel
Diaphragm Options Neoprene, Nitrile/Buna, two-piece PTFE or Santoprene depending on configuration
Check Valve Options Weighted elastomeric or solid PTFE check balls depending on fluid requirements

Final wetted-material, diaphragm and check-valve selection should be confirmed against the actual process fluid, concentration, temperature, viscosity, solids characteristics and operating conditions.

The 232 psi value refers to maximum discharge pressure capability. Maximum compressed-air operating pressure is 116 psi (8.0 bar). Published performance values are based on manufacturer test conditions and may vary with diaphragm material, fluid properties and hydraulic conditions.

Typical Applications

  • Filter press feed applications
  • High-pressure discharge systems
  • High-head fluid transfer
  • Long-distance fluid transfer
  • Viscous lubricant transfer
  • High-specific-gravity fluids
  • Mine dewatering
  • Slurry transfer
  • Ceramic slip and glaze transfer
  • Paint and coating applications
  • Long-run solvent transfer
  • Chemical injection into pressurized lines

When to Choose a High Pressure AODD Pump

A standard 1:1 AODD pump may not provide enough discharge pressure when the downstream system has significant resistance. The E1 High Pressure pump is intended for applications where greater pressure is required to overcome high static head, long piping runs, viscous fluids or an already pressurized process line.

ATEX Configuration

E1 High Pressure models are available with ATEX approval for applicable hazardous-area duties. The pump and connected equipment must be correctly installed, bonded and grounded according to the manufacturer’s instructions and site requirements.
