1. Compact, hygienic design
Alfa Laval Level switches are hygienic measurement devices designed specifically for detecting liquid levels in small process tanks used in the brewery, food and beverage, and personal care sectors. This covers both low-viscosity liquids (such as water and beer) and high-viscosity liquids and pastes (such as honey, yoghurt, and toothpaste).
All wetted parts are made of AISI 316L stainless steel and PEEK, and they are engineered to endure process temperatures ranging from -20 to +140°C. Because these 3-A certified level switches can tolerate high temperatures, they are ideal for Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) and Sterilization-in-Place (SIP) applications.

Level switches improve process dependability by providing quick, accurate indications of liquid levels. Integrated electronics generate a digital logic signal and automatically compensate for foam and bubbles, as well as viscous, sticky substances.

Operating principle To determine the liquid level, the level switch uses a high frequency sweep signal emitted from the sensor tip into the tank. The media acts as a virtual capacitor, forming a circuit with a coil in the sensor head to generate the switch point signal. This virtual capacity is determined by the dielectric value of the media, which is well specified for most media. |
