Alfa Laval LKH Evap Centrifugal Pump

The Alfa Laval LKH Evap is a high-efficiency, low-NPSHr hygienic centrifugal pump specifically optimized for evaporation duties. Based on the proven Alfa Laval LKH pump platform, it is designed to support efficient, reliable and hygienic fluid handling in demanding evaporation processes.

The LKH Evap is suitable for liquid concentration, powder processing, plant dewatering and other evaporation applications across the dairy, food, beverage, brewery, alcohol, ethanol, starch and chemical industries. Its low NPSHr helps support efficient system design where suction conditions may be challenging.

For high-solids applications, the optional ClearFlow scraper impeller helps reduce product buildup between the impeller and backplate. This can extend operating time between cleaning cycles while supporting reliable hygienic processing.

How the Alfa Laval LKH Evap Works

The LKH Evap uses a semi-open impeller with a special vane design to move product efficiently and gently through the pump. The impeller design helps achieve low NPSHr, reducing the risk of cavitation and supporting reliable operation under demanding suction conditions.

Balance holes in the impeller improve circulation around the shaft seal and help reduce axial forces. This contributes to reduced wear on the shaft seal and motor bearings while supporting stable pump performance.

ClearFlow Impeller Option

For applications where a hard layer of product may build up between the impeller and backplate, the LKH Evap can be supplied with the optional ClearFlow scraper impeller. This design helps reduce product buildup in high-solids applications and can extend operating time between cleaning cycles.

External Shaft Seal

The LKH Evap is equipped as standard with a single mechanical shaft seal and can also be configured with a single flushed or double mechanical shaft seal. The front-loading shaft seal has its spring and washers positioned on the atmospheric side, helping make inspection and replacement faster and easier.

Compression Coupling

A compression coupling securely connects the stub shaft to the motor shaft with precise alignment. This helps provide secure operation while minimizing noise and vibration and supporting longer service life for the shaft seal and motor.

LKH Evap Pump Range

The Alfa Laval LKH Evap range is available in 10 sizes with capacities up to 280 m³/h and differential pressures up to 11 bar at 50 Hz. Pump selection should be based on the required flow rate, pressure, temperature, product density, viscosity, suction conditions and selected pump options.
