Unique DV-ST UltraPureAlfa Laval Unique DV-ST UltraPure diaphragm valves are ideal for pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications, as well as other hygiene-related activities. The compact and lightweight valves are made up of various basic components, including valve bodies, diaphragms, actuators, and handles. The selection offers different combinations to meet the specific needs of your business.
The DV-ST UltraPure diaphragm valve is available for either pneumatic or manual operation. Actuators govern pneumatic valves at product pressures of up to 10 bar, depending on the valve diameters, diaphragm materials (EPDM, PTFE/EPDM, and TFM/PTFE) and actuator type. A range of easily installable indication and control units are available for purchase.
The diaphragm valves are manually actuated by spinning a handle attached to the stem. The handle includes standard over-closure protection to enhance the diaphragm’s life. All steel components are made of either stainless steel or composite material, depending on the handle type.
A maintenance-free stainless-steel diaphragm actuator with an autoclavable construction offers excellent corrosion resistance. This ensures trouble-free operation and an extended service life.
Alfa Laval Unique DV-ST UltraPure diaphragm valves come with all-stainless-steel actuators in two configurations: regular and high-pressure. Both are offered as ATEX-certified diaphragm actuators in normally closed (NC), ordinarily open (NO), and air/air activated (A/A) configurations.
The Unique DV-ST has superior valve bodies with reduced delta-ferrite content and defined sulphur levels in all forging and block valves. Two-way valves and ferrules for clamp-end bodies are forged from a single block. T- and tank-outlet valves are manufactured and machined from a single block of material. Sanitary diaphragm valves are available in a variety of styles and materials.
The aseptic diaphragm valves have a weir-type design and are available in either hard or soft PTFE compounds, with an EPDM backing or a pure EPDM diaphragm. The diaphragm valve can be operated manually or by pneumatic actuators outfitted with a variety of sensing and control devices, such as control units, position indicators, stroke limiters, and valve positioners.
All diaphragms have expiration dates and chemical monitoring, meet FDA/USP requirements, and follow TSE/ADI rules.
The diaphragm valves are complemented by Alfa Laval Q-doc, a comprehensive documentation package that offers complete transparency throughout the supply chain. This improves qualification, validation, and change control procedures while also streamlining the purchasing and installation processes. According to GDP, Q-doc covers all aspects of biotech and pharmaceutical equipment provision, providing clients with transparent and well documented quality assurance for the equipment they purchase.
Typical components of a Unique DV-ST UltraPure include the body, diaphragm, handle and actuator. To close the valve with the manual version, just turn the handle to press the compressor down on the diaphragm, which presses against the weir of the valve body. Another alternative for regulating the valve is to use a pneumatic actuator. To open or close the valve, the diaphragm actuator controls the piston’s axial movement. The typical all-stainless-steel actuators are available in two variants: the Unique DV-ST UltraPure Slim (SL) for light to medium loads and the Unique DV-ST UltraPure High Pressure (HP) for heavy loads. Both are available in ATEX versions suitable for use in potentially explosive circumstances, as well as normally closed (NC), normally open (NO) and air/air activated (A/A) valves.
Concept
The standard Unique DV-ST UltraPure is designed either for manual operation or for Pneumatic operation. The valve consist of a valve body, diaphragm, handle or actuator. Optional Sensing and control units are available. With a fully modular design the Unique DV-ST UltraPure can be built to meet virtually any demand within most industries. The valves are primarily used in biotech and pharmaceutical industries however they are also widely used in aseptic and hygienic processes as well as in utility systems within dairy, beverage and food industries.
Working principle
Manual operation
A simple turn of the handle will push the compressor downwards on the diaphragm, pressing the diaphragm against the weir of the valve body thereby closing the valve
Pneumatic operation
The actuator controls the axial movement of a piston, thereby opening or closing the valve depending on the actuator function.
The valve bodies are available in a wide variety of valve types and configuration options (dimension standards, connections, surface finish and material).
A wide range of sensing and control units are available for actuators consisting of:
All UltraPure valves are delivered with our comprehensive Q-Doc documentation package, which includes:
The following documentation is available upon request:
The diaphragm valves can be operated by a handle or a pneumatic actuator. Alfa Laval offers 2 different types of manual handles and 1 type of pneumatic actuator.
